Environmental Water Testing
The Eurofins Food and Water Testing NZ network of laboratories across New Zealand has extensive experience in the sampling and analysis of environmental waters.
We can check groundwater, surface water, receiving waters, marine and river water for a wide range of contaminants and microorganisms, to identify water conditions, contamination and drinking water quality.
We offer comprehensive chemical and microbiological tests on all environmental waters, and are specialists in metals, BOD, nutrients and organics analyses.
Our capability includes but is not limited to:
Chemical Testing
We offer chemical screening of groundwater for analytes including:
- Volatile Organic Compounds
- Semi-Volatile Organic Compounds
- Pesticides and Herbicides
- Anions: Chloride, Nitrate, Sulphate
- Cations: Ammonia, Calcium, Potassium, Sodium, Magnesium
- Metals: Al, Sb, As, Ba, Be, Bi, B, Cd, Cs, Cr, Co, Cu, Fe, Pb, Li, Mn, Hg, Mo, Ni, Rb, Se, Ag, Sr, Sn, Ti, W, V, Zn, Tl
Microbiological Testing
We offer a full range of microbiological analyses including all common tests. Water contaminated by human or animal excreta may contain a range of pathogenic micro-organisms, such as viruses, bacteria and protozoa. We can check for elevated microbiological counts in environmental waters to identify possible sewage contamination.
Nutrients Analysis
We test environmental waters for nutrient levels (in particular nitrogen and phosphorus) to help establish trends and enable early resolution of contamination. The most common sample matrices for nutrient analysis are ground and surface waters.
Receiving Water Testing
Mussels are filter feeders and are known to concentrate contaminants such as metals and viruses. The Eurofins Food and Water Testing network of laboratories can provide a testing service to monitor the health of a receiving water environment.
Marine and Freshwater Testing for Recreational Areas
We work with councils to ensure adherence to Microbiological Water Quality Guidelines for Marine and Freshwater Recreational Areas.
