While our companies' roots are local, our expertise is global. Eurofins Scientific is an international life sciences company and the world leader in food, environmental, and pharmaceutical products testing and in agroscience Contract Research services. When you partner with the Eurofins network of companies in New Zealand, you are partnering with a leading network of international laboratories with ca 62,000 dedicated employees, across 900 facilities in more than 1,000 companies and 62 countries.

Our Global Story

Eurofins Scientific was founded in 1987 by Gilles Martin, the current Group CEO, when he purchased the rights to the ground-breaking SNIF-NMR® technology, used to detect whether sugar had been added during the wine-making process to increase the alcohol content. Since then, the company has grown exponentially, and now performs over 450 million tests per year, with a turnover from €6.7 million in 1997 to over €6.5 billion in 2023.

The growth of Eurofins Scientific has come from a continued decentralised network of world-class laboratories across the globe. Together, we continue to build a leading position in food, pharma and environmental testing.

Our Approach to Corporate Sustainability

As an organisation, embedding corporate sustainability principles in our business strategy, and the way we operate, is an essential part of creating long-term value, and achieving our mission of contributing to a healthier and safer world.

Our policies incorporate a strong focus on the ethical, social and environmental aspects of doing business, with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in mind. Eurofins companies work to safeguard the environment through many of their testing activities, and considering their impact on the environment is a priority as is a commitment to sustainable operations. In 2020, we announced the ambitious goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2025.

Eurofins' Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) Report 2023 illustrates our commitment to our corporate responsibility to protect the environment and ensure diversity, equity, and inclusion for all Eurofins companies. You can download our ESG Report 2023 here:
